Maha Navami

Navami or Maha Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of Dashain. It is also the final day of the Navratri. On this day, people sacrifice animals to offer their blood to Goddess Duga. On this day, a large number of creatures are relinquished with the expectation that yielding creatures will free humankind from their transgressions. In Nepal, creatures are sacrificed generally on Maha Ashtami and Maha Navami.
